NEW DELHI: to exploit the export potential of agricultural and industrial products, the Ministry of Commerce, through the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), engages with the States and Union territories to put Gradually implementing the Districts as Export Hub (DEH) initiative in all districts of the country, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal briefed Parliament on Friday.
“The aim of the DEH initiative is to mobilize every district in the country to realize its potential as an export hub. have been identified in each district, ”Goyal said in a written response to a question posed to Rajya sabha.
Goyal said DEPC meetings have taken place in 619 districts in India. “The state export strategy / policy has been prepared by 26 states. In addition, draft export action plans have been prepared for 478 districts, ”he added.
Under the DEH initiative, support can be provided in the form of infrastructure and logistics, e-commerce / marketing / branding, skills development / training / testing facilities, research and development / technological upgrading, and export promotion / awareness activities.
The Ministry of Commerce has also implemented the Trade Infrastructure for Export (TIES) program since fiscal year 2017-2018 with the aim of helping central and state government agencies to create appropriate infrastructure for the growth of businesses. exports.
The program provides assistance for the establishment and modernization of infrastructure projects with overwhelming export links such as border posts, land customs posts, quality testing and certification laboratories for exports, trade promotion centers, among others.
